Appreciation
The Yellow Coiron Elixir Ælred is an Ardèche liqueur made from an elixir of life elaborated in 1249 by Bénédictus de Nuraie. It is a subtle combination of an alcoholate and a plant macerate, both of which are produced in our distillery using plants from our herbalist shop.
The recipe contains more than thirty plants, flowers and spices, and is sweetened with honey. Our liqueur is aged for 2 to 3 years in oak barrels in our cellar before bottling. To be drunk dry on ice, or in cocktails.
Colour
Bright saffron yellow.
Nose
Complexity and finesse, the smell of plants associated with spices including vanilla and citrus.
Taste
Smooth, honeyed and complex with excellent aromatic power. Attack on the vegetal with a subtle mix of plants such as angelica, hyssop, mint, verbena, coriander, associated with elderflowers, rose, violet, vanilla spices, saffron, cinnamon, cardamom… The bitterness usually brought by wormwood, mugwort, genepi is hardly perceptible.
After taste
Length sublimated by honey and saffron, with a very slightly aniseed-like opening.
